This Funzing Experience:
(The upcoming sequal to the award winning "Leslie Howard: The Man Who Gave a Damn")

On the morning of June 1st 1943, "Gone with the Wind" actor Leslie Howard was travelling aboard BOAC Flight 777 from Lisbon to Bristol when a squadron of Junkker Ju-88's first followed then shot down the unarmed passenger plane over the Bay of Biscay - with the loss of all 13 passengers and 4 cabin crew.

Although World War 2 was at its height, the plane was flying from neutral Portugal and was following what had been considered a "safe" route for almost 2 years - a vital communication line to both sides and hence mostly respected.

No official reason was ever given for the shooting down of this plane - initial attempts by Germany media to suggest the plane was a legitimate military target were quickly abandoned - and it was claimed as an accident of war.

Yet there was much about this attack that suggested it was anything but accidental.

There were rumours of spies being aboard the plane, that Leslie Howard himself was involved in espionage, that the Germans believed Churchill was aboard or that other prominent "enemies" of Germany were present.

Almost three quarters of a century since this event, theories and myths have continued to develop - that the British had intercepted messages between Lisbon and Berlin and that while aware the plane was in danger, they issued no warning.

Film makers Thomas Hamilton and Tracy Jenkins have spent the last 11 years researching and interviewing many of those who were close to or have studied the case in detail, for the documentary "Leslie Howard & the Mystery of Flight 777", (a companion piece to their Leslie Howard biography "The Man Who Gave a Damn") and along the way they have uncovered much that was previously unknown about this story.

Many people have enquired about when this documentary will be finished and where it can be seen. While there is still some finishing work to be done, we feel it's time this project was seen publicly.

On April 27th, this material will be shown for the first time anywhere at a unique venue in central London.

You will have a chance to follow this investigation first hand and explore the many strange tangents that have made this one of the great mysteries of the 20th century.

It promises to be a truly fascinating night. And will begin at 7.00pm sharp.
Don't miss out and book today.
