At first I thought the event was slow to get going, but later it was revealed this was the speakers first time talking in front of people (and he'd only been out of prison a few months). I found the subject matter very interesting and, although the story itself was fascinating the slideshow behind them was distracting and had too much text on it and the narrative needed to be said in a more succinct and engaging way - people around me were asking for clarity on the chain of events etc.
I loved hearing the story just wish it had been practiced more and cut down so it was easier to follow.
In the Q&A after the speaker became so much more relaxed and animated, it was like night and day. He was so much more endearing and engaging. I wish he'd been like that in the first half.

Thank you for the feedback Simon. I agree with you entirely. It was Jamie's first talk. The microphone connection was faulty, which slowed the start down, but Jamie soldiered through. That was fixed during the break by a sound engineer who happened to be present with his own equipment, but the distortion of the screen was unfixable, so we pretty much abandoned the PowerPoint text because like you pointed out it was unreadable. Hopefully the venue gets a better screen, and the tech and sound issues are fixed.

Fantastic event with an intriguing story at the centre of it. I would 100% go to another event and I would reccomend others to check it out.

Fantastic, Sean was so engaging and Jamie was confident and fascinating to listen to. I particularly enjoyed when Jamie spoke about life in prison and how he was feeling about his new life. I also really enjoyed him talking about his art and work with the Koestler Trust. I would recommend listening to Sean and Jamie speak.
