Do you love the spicy, zesty, clean and fresh flavours of Indian food and want to add authentic and new recipes to your own collection? This tailored small group cooking experience in Ritu’s friendly kitchen will be a creative, fun space for curry creation and detox daals.
The cooking follows yogic principles when I comes to food and you’ll be learning traditional recipes from scratch with ingredients you can buy, so you get to cook, learn, eat and re-create.
We’ll be using fresh zesty ingredients, veggies, lentils and spices to create your unique experience and we’ll tailor the dishes to suit your spice palette.
The Indian larder is vast!
To celebrate the wonderful exotic flavours and the larders versatility of this great cuisine, the recipes will be vegetarian or vegan, gluten, wheat, nut and dairy free. The beautiful nature of Indian cooking is that you get all the authenticity without altering recipes, substituting for lesser ingredients or textures or compromising on the flavour.
Ritu’s love of food started in her mother’s kitchen and she would love to share her authentic family recipes with you, which have been passed down through the generations. You will learn how to blend spices and flavours.
Ritu’s kitchen is all about flavour, nutrition and natural health benefits that can be derived from food, herbs and spices! The recent trend with turmeric and ginger is just the tip of the iceberg. Ritu has always understood how foods can be used for their health benefits, learning from around that big family table. She is now training to be an Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Consultant (which includes her love of yoga and mindfulness) and has a diploma in Nutrition also. Her passion for ingredients, their nutritional value and wellness, shows through her use of ingredients.
If you want to tailor your cooking experience further and would like to learn how to make Indian flatbreads (chapattis/rotis) with or without wheat, Ritu can craft an experience to your tastes. Welcome drink - detox ginger tea or lassi
- lentil or mung bean daal with tempuring
- mixed vegetable curry - aubergine, potato, green peppers and pea (let me know if you have a veg preference) with spiced coriander stuffing
- turmeric stir fried carrot and cabbage with seeds
- home made pickle e.g. apple chutney or ginger pickle
Time to also eat your freshly prepared wonderful creations
Approximately 2 hours of cooking time and then the all-important eating time
Recipes, so you can re-create for friends and family
NB If you have a favourite apron, feel free to bring it with you (although I have some that you can borrow) and Tupperware in case there is any food left to take home
NB Feel free to bring a bottle if you wish to have a drink with your meal.
