This Funzing Experience:
For centuries, western science pathologized spiritual experiences, seeing them as forms of hysteria or delusion. But now, a growing body of evidence suggests they are surprisingly common, and often good for people, helping them to heal, to find the connection, and to find meaning and self-transcendence. Jules Evans, author of The Art of Losing Control, will explore how people find ecstatic experiences today, how they can be healing, how they can also be dangerous, and how to integrate them into your life in a way that’s good for you and for your society. He’ll discuss meditation, psychedelics, ecstatic religion, and rock & roll as means to ecstasy.

Jules Evans is the author of Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations (2012), which was a Times book of the year; and The Art of Losing Control (2017). He is a research fellow at the Centre for the History of the Emotions at Queen Mary, University of London, where he researches the history and culture of ecstatic experiences. He is a BBC New Generation Thinker and his books are published in 19 countries. He blogs at www.philosophyforlife.org
