This Funzing Experience:

During this talk, you will examine letters from the killers and listen to calls they made to threaten survivors.

You will learn criminal profiling techniques which will be applied to the suspects, whilst also learning about forensic evidence collection and analysis, as well as the limitations which can occur in criminal investigations.

You will hear evidence on cases including:

  • Mr Cruel - referred to as ‘Australia’s bogeyman’, Mr Cruel was a child snatcher who terrorised suburbs of Melbourne in the late 80s and early 90s.
  • The Golden State Killer – a serial rapist and later serial killer, who attacked 55 people in their homes with military precision and evaded one of America’s biggest manhunts. Did his bizarre modus operandi offer clues to his identity?
  • The Bamber Family Massacre – the mass murder which shook Britain. Who murdered 5 members of the Bamber family in their farm house in August 1985? The only surviving member of the family claimed his sister, suffering from ill mental health, had murdered her parents and children before turning the gun on herself. The courts believed that the survivor was the perpetrator, motivated by greed. But what does the evidence suggest?
  • Gary Heize Jr case –Gary Heize Jr left his 9 family members in their home to smoke drugs. Upon his return, he was allegedly faced with the gruesome discovery of them (bar one infant survivor) beaten to death. With no evidence of the victims being drugged or restrained, did Gary really beat 8 members of his family to death single-handedly? With a missing murder weapon and a Polygraph Examiner admitting to perjury, many question the verdict of Gary’s guilt.
