An Inevitable Stich of Time
A fascinating play about one man’s quest to engage creatively with scientific, philosophical and cultural concepts of Time to ‘extend’ his life and outwit death.
Alessandro suffers from a rare prion disease, 'Fatal Familial Insomnia' where he can no longer sleep and has months to live. Though rare, new research has shown the underlying genetic mechanisms to be common with Alzheimer's and Dementia - a condition which will affect at least one person we love in our lifetimes and our ageing population.
This is a beautifully hopeful play about our modern culture, its relationship with time and our personal meanings of life and it has been developed thus far in partnership with the National Prion Clinic, Prof Marcus du Sautoy (BBC Horizon presenter and Simonyi Professors for the Public Understanding of Science ) and Prof Russell Foster (Director of the Oxford Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute.)
Written by Sophia Mertins; dramaturghy and science content guidance by Dr Shama Rahman, Artistic Director of Jugular: Joining the Head and the Heart; actors Katherine Templar Lewis, Giulio Carini and Lloyd Ryan Thomas.
