I have been skiing for 25 years (and snowboarding for the last 5). For years I would try to get "ski-fit" in the gym but a few years ago when I was deep in my yoga training I was not going to the gym as I was practicing yoga 6 times a week.
The first day on the slopes it was a 'bluebird' day with perfect conditions but I was dreading that I would be weak and struggle to turn in the deep powder. To my surprise I found exactly the opposite! My skis seemed to effortlessly bounce through the snow and on piste I was carving with more power and accuracy than ever before. And the added bonus was that the next day I was pain free, energised and ready to get the first lift!
I have been studying and practicing yoga for 18 years and my experience inspired me to share Yoga for Skiers & Snowboarders with you. In addition to my Yoga Alliance teacher training I have completed a specialist Sports Yoga course and am currently working with Olympic Skier Billy Major as well as amateur and social athletes.
