Meet RESTORATION_LDN:

RESTORATION LONDON is an independent organisation that focuses on sustainability within the clothing industry.

Our focus is on reusing, recycling and upcycling existing garments and encourage the DIY Maker Movement.

We hold workshops around London, encouraging participants to mend their favourite items of clothing instead of disposing them into landfill.

Our workshops aim to introduce ways of mending clothing through various textile methods in order to fix, deconstruct or customise to revive much loved pieces. We also show people how to make interior pieces as well as clothing to encouraging making your own and enjoy learning a new skill!

Our goal is to inspire people to learn new, invaluable skills and reconnect with textile techniques. We want to encourage your creativity and minimise the negative social and environmental effects of fast fashion, together.

All of our workshops also come with free tea, coffee and cake!

Here at RESTORATION LONDON we offer a 10% discount to those bringing in their own item of clothing to either fix or use as fabric during the workshop. 

All materials and yarns we use are biodegradable and eco-friendly!

Founder Hannah Porter graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2015 and since worked in the fashion and textiles industry for established brands before starting her own company.

Trained in knitwear, Hannah was awarded a traineeship by The British Fashion Council to work in industry for a year as part of their graduate scheme straight after graduating. It was during this time that she really gained an insight into the world of fashion and the amount of work that goes into collections, from all involved.

Showcasing collections at least four times a year at LFW, selling to buyers, then sample sales, and unsold, dead-stock ending up in boxes in warehouses and  eventually resulting in becoming landfill if items were damaged. This was an eye-opener to see how "disposable" people were treating these garments, let alone how workers were treated in the industry. 

 Hannah then started thinking about ways of re-designing with a purpose in mind to reuse the materials and regenerate these pieces through skilled textile methods to contribute towards a zero waste economy which lead to RESTORATION LONDON.

Hannah currently teaches the Knitwear Online Short Course at Central Saint Martin's. Her aim is to teach others the skills and knowledge she learnt during her studies in order to help minimise the negative environmental impact we have on the earth.
