1.What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Midas Touch Crafts which was set up in 2012 offers a wide range of over 20 different crafting workshops including candle making, soap making, flower arranging, 100% natural beauty product making, lampshade making, Essential oils making, perfume making, pottery and many more. We are regularly told we offer the best variation, and value for money in the whole of the UK.
All workshops are run from our London Bridge venues. However, we also offer online ELearning options, video learning workshops.
Midas Touch Crafts has also worked with Midas Touch Training to offer a wide range of crafting workshops that incorporate mindfulness and team building. We have worked with and run workshops for a wide range of well-known businesses such as Bupa, Salvation Army, Alan Sugar on The Apprentice, ITV, Balpa, Shell, The Londonist, Westminster University, Thomas Cook, Tinkun, Boots, WHSmith, Argos and many more.
We have run many private parties for clients including birthday parties, hen parties, wedding parties, and parties that you want throw for any other occasion. With our minimum age of 7 we really enjoy entertaining the kids.
We have even catered for the much younger people I our lives with our 2 - 8 year olds parties.
Midas Touch Crafts has a 100% Natural Beauty product range that is all edible and features no chemicals whatsoever. Many of the range are also vegan, vegetarian and halal friendly. Offering men and women of all ages and ethnicity a chemical free alternative to their beauty regime.
Our clients always tell us that they love our crafting hampers, whether it is the candle making and decorating, soap and bath bomb, make your own natural beauty products or any of the others, rest assured with the detailed instructions and correct quantity provided of ingredient and materials means that you can be a professional crafter in your own time and from the comfort of your home.
We also have the kid's crafting hampers, aimed at 2 - 10 year olds. Our wonderful selection of personalised hampers for your kids. We offer a fantastic subscription based introduction to the world of crafting for you children that allow them to learn and explore new skills whilst encouraging focus, concentration, creativity and many more skills.
2. What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
In my late 20's when 3 of my old school friends where diagnosed with different types of cancer it struck me that we needed to help raise awareness and fun raise. Post several fundraising event my mother and I did to varied levels of success we begun to see friends and family less enthusiastic to donate and support us.
With the news that my aunt (mother's sister) had been diagnosed with breast cancer for the 4th time we decided that we would take fundraising to the next level. We set up a crafting arty day. The day involved teaching attendees how to make and decorate candles. In much the same way that a small single candle can light up a large dark room, we wanted to show that a on individual you could make a difference. Tickets were sold for the event and a large % of proceeds where donated above business costs to Cancer Research UK.
We sold so many tickets and the event was such a success that 4 years later Midas Touch Crafts is where we are.
3. What do you love most about your job?
Mum and I get to meet such a variety of different and wonderful people. But mostly we get to spread awareness, teach mindfulness via crafting and inspire people to go onto create businesses with their new found skills.
But most of all we raise and donate to Cancer Research.
4. What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
Every client we meet is always so grateful for having had the experience with us. They always leave telling us that they have met new people, socialized, learnt and new skill and feel inspired and motivated to do more with crafting and other fares of their life on the whole. Post meting Midas Touch Crafts clients have booked us to run their work events, children's birthday parties, hen parties, and many more personal and private events. To be invited into a client s life is the biggest reward that a business can be given.
And as a add on many have gone onto fund-raise themselves in many wonderful ways after meeting us and feeling inspired to make a difference and spread some love in this world.
