A classic tour of London isn’t complete without a trip to the palace! Get up close to some of the most powerful and historic buildings in the world. Take in the awe-inspiring architectural diversity of Westminster, Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s Cathedral. Soak up the buzzing atmosphere and liveliness of the beautiful Covent Garden, and brush shoulders with the bronze lions in Trafalgar Square. The East-West Cycle Superhighway is yours for the taking!
Classic London is our most popular tour of central London, covering the classic sights that light up the capital's skyline from Westminster to the City of London.
Your journey starts from our riverside cycle hire centre at Gabriel’s Wharf, conveniently located a stone’s throw away from Waterloo station.
Once you're equipped with a bike, your guide will lead you across Blackfriars Bridge and onto Victoria Embankment along the East-West Cycle Superhighway - London’s latest exciting initiative to improve cycle safety.
The first stop is in front of one of the greatest of all Britons, the ingenious engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Then comes Cleopatra’s Needle and spectacular riverside views of the Southbank with its iconic London Eye.
Passing by a majestic statue of Queen Boudicca, with Big Ben towering over you, next comes Winston Churchill in Parliament Square.
You’ll have time to admire some notable historical statues and enjoy great views of Westminster Abbey before heading off to Buckingham Palace – via St James’s Park – in time to catch the Changing of the Guard*. If you're in luck, the royal standard flag will be raised and you may catch a glimpse of the Queen as she takes up residence in her 'office'.
From here it’s straight to Trafalgar Square to see the towering statue of Lord Nelson guarded by bronze lions not far from elegant fountains.
Next you'll head to the cobbled streets of Covent Garden, an area renowned for its high-quality restaurants and lively street performers.
Then it's time to head towards London's oldest quarter as we enter the heart of the legal district and make our way past Lincoln's Inn Fields and follow the old cattle routes to Smithfield Market, where we hear of its turbulent past and gruesome medieval history.
A pedal ride later and you're at the penultimate stop, taking a moment to admire St Paul’s Cathedral before crossing over Blackfriars Bridge and heading back to the wharf.
